Try these simple dishes on a cold, wintery evening when only comfort food will do.

Sausages with Winter Vegetable Mash

Ingredients:

4 sausages, regular or reduced-fat

2 parsnips

2 or 3 medium potatoes

175g Brussels sprout

4 tbsp milk

1 tbsp wholegrain mustard

Dangold Roasted Garlic Rosemary and Sea Salt Blend

Grill the sausages for 10-12 mins, turning frequently. Meanwhile, peel and roughly chop the parsnips and potatoes, then cook in boiling salted water for roughly 10 mins. Shred sprouts, add to the pan for the last 2-3 mins and cook until all the vegetables are tender. Drain and mash the vegetables, then beat in the milk and mustard with rosemary garlic blend. Serve with the sausages.

Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients:

1 pound uncooked macaroni

4 cups grated cheddar cheese

3 cups evaporated milk

3 cups milk

1 teaspoon dried oregano

A pinch of Fine Pink Himalayan Salt

A pinch of Black Pepper

Add all of the ingredients to your slow cooker and mix thoroughly. Cook on low for around two and a half to three hours, stirring well every hour until the macaroni is cooked and the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency. Add all of the ingredients to your slow cooker and mix thoroughly. At this point, the liquid will be fluid but the viscosity will increase as the macaroni cooks. Cook on low for roughly two and a half to three hours, stirring well every hour until the macaroni is cooked and the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.

 

Spicy Sausage Noodles

Ingredients:

2 sausages

1 garlic clove, crushed

1 tbsp grated ginger

1 red chilli, chopped

1 tbsp sesame oil

160g green beans

200g straight-to-wok noodles

Soy sauce

Fresh coriander leaves

Sesame seeds

DanGold Spicy Stirfry Blend

Squeeze the sausages out of their skins. Mix the sausage meat with the garlic, ginger, red chili, and a pinch of the Spicy Stirfry blend, then fry in sesame oil until browned. Add the green beans then fry for 1 min more.

Tip in the straight-to-wok noodles and a splash of soy sauce and toss together. Add a splash of water and put the lid on to allow the beans to steam for a couple of mins. Sprinkle with fresh coriander leaves and sesame seeds to serve.
