How to Upgrade Your Instant Ramen, the Dangold Way

That said, we know you can’t just rely on spice when it comes to upgrading your bowl of noodles.

When it comes to meat, opt for thinly sliced portions that can be cooked in a matter of seconds directly in the pot. Chicken breast, pork tenderloin, or flank steak are all great candidates. Cured meats like ham or bacon are great as well, as are cooked meats like leftover chicken or steak, or hot dogs. Yes, you just read that right. Hot dogs!

As for quick-cooking vegetables, opt for baby spinach, sliced cabbage, or frozen peas. Just add them after you pull the noodles off heat. Conversely, vegetables, like broccoli or cauliflower, can go in the pot about two minutes before it’s done boiling.

And last but not least: eggs. As one of the most versatile additions to Instant Ramen, the easiest thing to do is add the eggs to the cold water before you start cooking. Bring the water to a boil, let it boil for a minute or two, then add your noodles. If you timed everything right, the eggs will be hard (or soft) boiled just as the noodles finish cooking.
